Selection Policy

Selections are done by the Coaches on Monday & Tuesdays with players being informed on a Tuesday evening. It is done this way so that if a player is dropped, the coach can talk to the player individually before the teams are announced.

Mosman Rugby Selection Principles

  • Our achievement as a club will be reflected by our performance on and off the field.

  • Players shall always be encouraged to play at the highest level for their ability and aspiration whether it is at Mosman or at any higher level. To this end Mosman will select the best players available for each team and will actively participate in the NSW SRU representative programme.

  • As a club we will endeavour to ensure that all financial and registered players get the opportunity to play a full game in each competition round for which they are available. The concept of fresh reserves being retained in any grade will not be supported.

  • In the selection process team coaches shall have final selection discretion. Concurrence with the higher grade coach is a requirement prior to the announcement of team selection.

  • The First Grade Coach should confer with the Chair of Rugby to ensure no conflict prevents with any grade selection prior to announcement of selections. Should any selection dispute arise it shall be referred to the Club President for determination. The Club President's determination will be final but will be based on advice from the First Grade Coach, the Club Coach (if appointed) and the Chair of Rugby.
